This includes but is not limited to: companies, businesses, business-like entities, events, publications, projects, agencies, bots, and so on. Please refer to our Account Types Documentation and reach out to the admin team ( admin@hachyderm.io ) prior to creating an account if you are creating an account for anything other than yourself for personal use.

Moderation and Community Safety

Hachyderm is actively moderated to protect our most vulnerable members. Our primary rule is Don't Be A Dick and all other rules are to capture common "whataboutisms" that we want to clearly state are included by Don't Be A Dick. Our server rules, including Don't Be A Dick, are explained on our Community Docs.

When making moderation decisions, our moderators abide by our Moderator Covenant. This is to both hold ourselves accountable as well as provide transparency, and build community trust, around how we handle issues that might appear to fall into "grey areas".

If you experience an issue that needs moderator action / intervention, please look at our documentation page for how to report issues to the moderators.

Reporting Hachyderm Issues and Outages

Technical issues with the Hachyderm site, including full / partial outages and features that are not working correctly, need to be reported to us via our GitHub Community Issue Tracker.

Note for Non-User Accounts

Although regular user accounts are only subject to regular server rules, specialized / entity / "novelty" / "focus" accounts have some additional restrictions. To learn more, please see our Account Types documentation page. A short summary of what to know:

• Company, company-like, and/or business accounts, currently known as corporate accounts, are invite-only. Unofficial corporate accounts will be suspended.
  
  
  • Anyone looking to create an account of this type must reach out to the admin team at admin@hachyderm.io.
  
  
• Those looking to create accounts for non-profit entities should reach out to the admin team at admin@hachyderm.io.
• Bot accounts are allowed with restrictions (please see our Bot Account documentation).
• Qualifying Open Source Project accounts are allowed (please see our OSS Project and Community Events documentation).
• Qualifying Community Events are allowed (please see our OSS Project and Community Events documentation).
• Essentially: anyone interested in creating an account that is not a general user should reach out to the admin team at admin@hachyderm.io.
• Large / Influencer account set ups and transfers, which is defined as more than 10k on any platform, need to reach out to the Admin team prior to transfer at admin@hachyderm.io.

Unrecognized specialized account types will be suspended. Commonly suspended / unrecognized subtypes are:

• NSFW / 18+
• Fundraising
• Unofficial company / corporate accounts
